Following on from it’s successes last year with the high end production of the Goffs annual magazine Ashville Media were delighted to be chosen as the publishing partner for Doncaster Bloodstock Sales earlier this year.
DBS was founded in 1962 by Willie Stephenson – the only Englishman to train both Derby and Grand National winners – and Kenneth Oliver – a well-known Scottish-based auctioneer and National Hunt trainer, following an approach from Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council (DMBC).
“Value. Service. Success.” This has become the DBS slogan, as they are the key words that sum up the ethos of the company. DBS Auctioneers work to the highest standards and have conducted a number of auctions around the world on an annual basis.

On July 6th 2007, Goffs and DBS completed a landmark merger, forming a bloodstock auction house that promises to become Europe’s leading bloodstock auctioneers. Goffs is Ireland’s leading bloodstock sales company and DBS is the second largest and fastest growing thoroughbred auction house in the UK.
The combined entity offers a programme of 22 sales, in Britain and Ireland, cataloguing over 10,000 horses each year and covering every sector of the bloodstock market with auctions conducted by a consistent team of world-class auctioneers and horsemen with unrivalled experience.
This year DBS will celebrate its 50th anniversary and, to celebrate this achievement, are producing a commemorative magazine for its elite and diverse customer base. It will be mailed directly to its valued database this summer with their spring sales catalogue and will be officially launched at the DBS 50th Anniversary Garden Party in May. In addition, DBS magazine will be distributed to selected hotels in Doncaster, Bawtry and throughout West Yorkshire.
The DBS 50th Aniviversary magazine will showcase the very best horses and hospitality that the sales and region have to offer. The recurring theme of this magazine will be ‘The Best of British’ – celebrating the winners, breeders, trainers, owners, fashion and food that DBS and the area has produced over the last 50 years. It will cover the big issues in racing and breeding, with in-depth features from leading industry writers such as Ed Prosser, superb photography, as well as premium lifestyle features.

Like digital grease monkeys we’ve been tinkering under the hood of our popular Pages Online product to bring you an even better service.
After a long labour of love we are coming out of Beta to present the latest version of the online reader that provides our clients in the print world the ability to display their publications digitally in the format in which it was intended to be viewed. Using flash technology, readers can flick through magazines online just as they do with the real thing.
And now this latest update brings the technology to smartphone users and improves the experience for those using Apple’s iPad. One of the biggest changes will be noticed by people using the Android operating system users who can now view our digital magazines for the first time. Apple users can enjoy an even faster and smoother reading experience. This allows for a much wider – and rapidly growing – audience for our magazines.
There are other more general changes in the latest update too. One nifty feature we’ve added is the ability to keep viewing your double page spreads, even when zooming in and out. So now you can enjoy vibrant double pages without having to flick back and forth between them.
So go on, get your teeth into it!
