The LAMA Local Government City and Council Awards were launched in 2006 to recognise excellence in the work of local authorities in Ireland. These awards acknowledge the well planned and expertly executed projects that enhance our daily lives, showcasing the very best development and construction projects of the past year and the most pro-active local authorities.
Over time, we have revamped and revised the categories to reflect society’s needs, introducing categories for the Best Green Authority, Best Arts Building, Best Affordable Housing Development and a National Impact Award. A total of 24 unique awards will be presented on the night, commending individuals, initiatives and projects of benefit to the community and honouring the very best in construction at local county level, including civil engineering, commercial development, and recreation and leisure facilities.
January 2011 will mark the fifth year of the awards with a black tie gala dinner and ceremony attended by over 600 people and hosted by Miriam O’Callaghan (RTÉ’s Primetime). An audience of councilors, city and county managers, local authority members and management teams, heads of the construction industry, plus the LAMA Executive and representative members will be wowed at this glitzy event, making it the highlight of the year in every local authority’s calendar.
